Mrs Robinson

Mike Zoppo is a host of exceptional ability. Studies show that a vast majority of guests attending events by Mike have been known to leave more elated than visitors to Santa's Workshop, The Lost of Continent of Atlantis, and the Fountain of Youth.

About

Leveraging automation To solve Challenging problems at Scale

Come join us for talks and demos showcasing some of the latest, innovative solutions in automation.

With AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions and related projects, the rise of the serverless production environment is upon us. But how will we manage a conglomeration of functions built across the organization? In his talk, Jeremy will explain how his team members at CloudNative have set up this automation to make this the easiest development environment ever, and tell you about Kappa, their open source tool for Lambda management.

Electric Eye is an automated computer vision testing framework that lets you automatically detect video and audio syncing issues (among other things). Michael will showcase Electric Eye for the very first time publicly and explain what makes it different from other CV testing tools.

If you like to tinker with technologies and not just hear about them, come check out the demo stations for Lambda  Deployment, Electric Eye, Hydra, and the Alchemist Automation System.

Speakers & Talks

CloudNative | coFounder

Jeremy Edberg

Jeremy is an angel investor and advisor for various incubators and startups, and is the cofounder of CloudNative. Jeremy was the founding Reliability Engineer for Netflix, and before that he ran ops for reddit. Jeremy also tech-edited the highly acclaimed AWS for Dummies. His expertise is in serverless computing, distributed computing, availability, rapid scaling, and cloud computing. He holds a Cognitive Science degree from UC Berkeley.

Netflix | Senior Software Devlopment Engineer in test

Michael Russell

Michael Russell is finding new ways to improve the quality of the streaming experience on a variety of consumer electronic devices as an automation expert on Netflix's Certification Engineering Team. Over the last two decades, he has worked on everything from the original Xbox to the Fire Phone and tons of strange and unusual projects inbetween. In his spare time, he maintains a series of popular video game modifications, collects physical copies of hilariously bad movies, and tries to find new and interesting ways to be "efficiently lazy."

"The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency."
